Nicholas R. Martin serves as Head of School at Bethel Academy, a Classical Christian School in Troy, Illinois, which seeks to cultivate Christ-like maturity and wisdom in every student. Additionally, he serves as Pastor of New Douglas Baptist Church in New Douglas, Illinois. Most recently, he completed an appointed term on the Illinois Children and Family Services Advisory Council.
He has extensive experience in church ministry, Christian Education, and non-profit administration including roles at three churches in Missouri and Illinois and on the faculty teaching theology and worldview at a Christian school.
Nicholas is a graduate of Missouri Baptist University (BA), Lindenwood University (MA), and Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary (MDiv) with additional studies in Church History at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary. During his undergraduate studies, he spent his summers on the mission field working with indigenous pastors and missionaries in East Africa (Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia). Currently, his academic research interests include the history of Particular Baptists, the history of the church and missions in sub-Saharan Africa, and martyrology in early centuries of Christian history as a lens for deeper discipleship.
He is married to his wife, Brittany, and live in Southern Illinois with their two children.
